Abstract: Present study was descriptive correlational in nature. It was intended to investigate the relationship between parenting styles and self-esteem. Major objective of the study was to explore the relationship between three different parenting styles (authoritative, authoritarian and permissive) with self-esteem in the context of secondary school students. A 60 item Parental Authority Questionnaire for measuring parenting style was used whereas, for the measurement of self-esteem, a self-esteem inventory consisted of 30 items was used. Sample of the study was comprised of 60 students (both male and female) studying in secondary schools located at Islamabad. Data was collected by using random sampling technique. For analysis of data descriptive statistic was used with the help of SPSS. Findings of the study revealed that there is a strong positive relationship exist between each parenting styles and self-esteem. Invented Tradition free essay sample

Generally tradition is known as a mode of thought or behavior which has been followed or practice by people continuously from generation to generation such as custom or usage. In purpose to strengthen the above statement, by citing the general definition of the tradition, Dewan Bahasa dan Pustaka Dictionary of the fourth edition explains tradition is a common, customs, beliefs and other have perpetual succession. The of term tradition (English word) is derived from the Latin word ‘traditio’, the noun from the verb traderer or tradere literally meaning to transmit, to hand over or to give for safekeeping. While it is commonly assumed that traditions have ancient history, there are many traditions that have been invented on purpose, whether that be political or cultural [Wikipedia, 2011]. There are various views expressed by scholars and academic figures on the tradition in a society based on the eyes and fundamentalism that dominated their thinking. For instance, Eric Hobsbawm is one of Britain’s most prominent historians with his view of tradition and identity. However, he has a different perception on the meaning of tradition and this led him introduced the term of ‘invention of tradition’. According to Hobsbawm in his book entitled The Invention of Tradition (1983), tradition is something that can be constructed and institutionalized unlike the ordinary definition who thought tradition is something that the practice of generations in a society. Hobsbawm also argued that the new traditions were invented to connect people to the territories and to give sense of belonging to each other. In Europe, time of inventing tradition was took place around the 19th century. By inventing tradition, the nation will gained its legitimacy in order to build a modern nation-state. In other words, we can say that the new invented traditions enhances patriotism, loyalty, duty and the like which their function can be summarizing into three parts. Firstly as to establish or symbolize cohesion or the membership of groups; secondly, to legitimize institutions, status or relations of authority and lastly is to create beliefs, value systems and conventions of behavior. Almost all countries throughout the world create their own traditions in order to express their culture as well as specialized it from outside communities. Amongst them, Malaysia is not exception in creating its own tradition too. There are many invented tradition in Malaysia either as a whole or by the existing ethnic group. For instance, one of the most popular invented tradition among Malaysian is open house which usually held during the festive season. Besides, there are also another invented tradition that have been practice by people of Malaysia such as wearing a school uniform, wearing Batik, honor to national flag and so on. My first point on the invented tradition in Malaysia is open house. The term open house can be defined as a place or situation in which all visitors are welcome. Pursuant to the Macmillan Dictionary (2007), the term is also referred as a period of time when people are encouraged to visit a place and it is a party which we invite people to come whenever they want to during a particular time period. The reason I look open house as an invented tradition in my country because this event will be held at every festival celebration celebrated by the people of Malaysia. This is because it has become a tradition or the yearly event to Malaysia government to implement an open house nationally either during the celebration of Hari Raya, Chinese New year, Deepavali and Christmas with the hope of uniting all communities in Malaysia in order to build the country as a nation-state. The second point of the invented tradition that I have found in Malaysian culture is wearing a school uniform for student. As we know, wearing school uniforms to school whether primary or secondary school is seen as one of the ducational tradition which grew from the days before independence in which it was introduced by the British, who ruled at that time. This tradition has been going on for almost 185 years since the establishment of the first Malay school in Malaya that is Gelugor Malay School, 1826. This tradition clearly invented and constructed by the British and later institutionalized by the Malaysian government through the Ministry of Education as one of obligation to each student who go to school [Tradition is an invented, constructed and institutionalized]. The purpose of the institutionalized this invented tradition is to nurture a discipline among the student and based on it we can bring forth a new generation with the ideal personality in leading the nation in future. Next invented tradition is wearing Batik among the public employees. In an effort to elevate the art of batik as a national heritage, the political authorities of Malaysia had voiced a strong wish that all public employees should wear batik at work at least one day every week [Batik at the Millennial Turn]. Because of that, on Thursday weekly, each public employee is encouraged to wear batik themed. By adjusting the characteristics of formal wear, it has become a correct attire for man at formal occasions like a long-sleeved batik shirt. With the elevate the art of batik as a one of Malaysia national heritage, our artistic heritage left by ancestors will remain protected. My final point on the invented tradition that available in my country is honor to our national flag which also known as Jalur Gemilang. Despite the splendor of the Jalur Gemilang, there were the meanings of itself. As an example, each color in it, has its own meaning such as blue field symbolizes the unity of the Malaysian people while the fourteen bands represent the federal government and a group of thirteen states [Malaysian Flag]. I tend to say this is a invented tradition because after my country getting independence from the colonialist, it become a tradition to most of the Malaysian to flying Jalur Gemilang especially when there comes the month of independence which is mid of August and during National Day celebrations till the formation day of Malaysia which is called Hari Malaysia on September 16th. This is one of the way we as Malaysians to show our love for the country. Lastly, as a whole we can conclude that Hobsbawm thinking on the concept of tradition is particularly helpful in understanding the cultural development of the society. His idea of critical and thoughtful is seen critical and constructive by saying that the tradition in a society can be invented, constructed and institutionalized by certain parties to achieve their own objectives. As we could see, there are many invented tradition in Malaysia which have its own aim to achieve on her way to set up a nation-state.

I will attempt to inform you on what Knowledge Management Software (KMS) is. I will also attempt to give you a brief history and specific benefits the KMS adds to our specific global organization. First let’s talk about knowledge management (KM), and define what it is? I had the opportunity to talk with three coworkers and for them to give me a definition that I myself had no idea about until I decided to do some research. Well, my first interview went with Tasha who’s a Supply person. She had no idea; she thought it could not be such a thing as KM. Secondly, I interviewed Michelle our unit secretary. She said she’d heard of it but couldn’t possibly tell me what it meant. And lastly, I interviewed Tonya, our personnel specialist. Tonya said she knew what knowledge was. According to her, knowledge had something to do with knowing information and management according to her is knowing what to do with the information. Well, that gave me a starting point. Well, what is knowledge? Let’s see, knowledge has two basic definitions of interest. The first pertains to a defined body of information. Depending on the definition, the body of information might consist of facts, opinions, ideas, theories, principles, and models (or other frameworks). Clearly, other categories are possible, too. Subject matter (e.g., chemistry, mathematics, etc.) is just one possibility. In addition, knowledge also refers to a person’s state of being with respect to some body of information. These states include ignorance, awareness, familiarity, understanding, facility, and so on. Now that was a mouthful. Management on the other had has some of the similarities as Tonya mention above. When I researched the definition for management it means to manage or be responsible for controlling or organizing someone or something especially a business. After reviewing both and putting those together KM means - the processes of finding, collecting and sharing information within an organization. This has taken the business community by storm in the last five years. It is about making optimum use of the intellectual capital (skills, ideas and knowledge) of employees. The history of KMS has many faces. With continuously emerging work roles, the unlocking of an enterprise's information to members at every level has become essential to ensure that each has the knowledge, skills and authority to be productive. These new work roles demand that every individual have access to the correct data and knowledge in order to make their own effective business decisions.

Background of the Company It all began in 1979 when Malaysia’s Father of Modernisation, Tun Mahathir Mohamad, mooted the idea of establishing an automotive assembling and manufacturing industry in our country. It was Tun Mahathir’s dream to accelerate Malaysia’s industrialisation capabilities to match those of developed nations. They also act like a consumer seeker whereby they will keep forward looking for the new design of the imported car. Some of the consumer beliefs which car they are prefer to drive and which car they are not prefer or dislike. ) Price-quality inference – Most of the respondent believed that imported car were made by high quality material in term of interior design, more quality in term of engine performance and also more towards science and technology. To be intention to purchase imported car, they will consider how far the price and quality they concern. d) Risk Awareness- In this study, we also found that most of the respondent beliefs that imported car were more safety to drive due to test safety before launching new model.Other than that, they also believe imported car were made by high quality material in term of interior design, more quality in term of engine performance and also more towards science and technology. Domestic sales volume for the period declined by 46. 8% to 88,635 units in comparison to the 166,656 units recorded in the previous financial year. PROTON's market share in Malaysia also declined to 29. 7% during the financial year compared to 39. 1% in the previous year, due to persistent competitive pressures w ithin the automotive sector. Such conditions and circumstances have led PROTON to a net loss after tax of RM590 million on a turnover of RM4. billion, as compared to the previous year's results of a net profit after tax of RM46 million on a turnover of RM7. 8 billion. The Group's losses for this financial year were also accentuated by various provisions, which included right-sizing costs incurred by a foreign subsidiary, higher component and raw material costs as well as the impact of legacy issues such as additional expenditure recognized in respect of vendor claims for previous years' project development costs and settlement of onerous contractual obligations previously committed. In addition, accounting adjustments to PROTON's deferred tax assets also adversely impacted the financial results. Accordingly, for the financial year ended 31 March 2009, PROTON recorded a loss after tax of RM301. million albeit on the back of improved revenue of RM6. 5 billion. This decline was largely due to the one-off exceptional provision for the impairment of property, plant and equipment and inventory write-down for certain models impacted by declining demand. Additionally, PROTON’s financial performance for the second half of the financial year was also adversely affected by the accelerated amortization of dies and jigs for certain models as well as higher commodity prices, increased costs of components and raw materials which arose from higher foreign currency exchange rates, particularly, the Japanese Yen and the US Dollar, coupled with allowance for doubtful debts.During the financial year 2011, the Group recorded a net profit of RM156 million (2010: RM219 million) which was lower than the previous financial year. The decrease was substantially due to higher losses from Lotus Group International Limited (‘LGIL’) whilst better contribution from the Proton cars business partly offset the decline. Growth in domestic sales volume, as well as introduction of models with better profit margins mainly accounted for the improved performance of Proton cars. In line with its transformation plans, LGIL incurred higher branding, marketing and restructuring costs in the rebuilding of the brand and improving production capabilities respectively. Herbert Mullin Criminal Profile Essay

Mullin Herbert Mullin was born in Salina California which happens to be the anniversary of the 1906 San Francisco earthquake as well as Einstein’s death. He was the youngest between him and his sibling, Patricia. He was raised by both parents Jean and Bill Mullin. He didn’t have any problems in school he was popular and physically attractive. He had a good childhood but through his life span he made a lot of wrong decisions that includes drug abuse which aggravated schizophrenia. In high school he had a lot of friends and was quite popular. He played football and had a steady relationship and was voted most likely to succeed. At the age of eighteen he attended Cabrillo College to study engineering. In the summer of 1967 he graduated with a two year degree in road engineering and enrolled at San Jose State College change his major to philosophy and took on the hippie lifestyle. At the age of twenty-one In June 1965 people began to think that his sanity was deteriorating due to the fact that he built a shrine in his bedroom to Dean, his friend that was killed in a car accident the summer after graduation. At the age of nineteen he first experienced LSD which lead him to experimenting more with marijuana and LSD. At the age of twenty one he was arrested for possession of marijuana. At the age of 21 at a family dinner he started showing signs of schizophrenia which was aggravated by drug abuse. At the age of twenty two Herbert Mullin began treatment as a resident of the community drug abuse prevention center in Santa Cruz. Later that year Herbert Mullin was committed to the psychiatric ward of San Luis Obispo County General Hospital because with is mental disorder he was a danger to others, himself and gravely disabled. A month later he was diagnosed as a paranoid schizophrenic. He was not one that cared to take his medication. In the summer of 1970 he was diagnosed as a schizo-affective schizophrenia. In 1970 he began blaming his parents for his illness and in result took them out of his will. Herbert killed people believing that if he started to kill people it will lessen the chances of another hurricane happening in his area. He did this by only killing random Caucasians from the age of 4 to 72. He bought his materials to the crime scene such as a gun, knife, and baseball bat. He was a psychotic visionary. Mullin had no developmental problems according to Erikson. He went through all the stages where he experience love and finding out what personality he wants to embrace. This is the point and time when he realizes that he is a bisexual. The motivation behind it seems to be the fact that he was born the day that Albert Einstein died and the anniversary of San Francisco Earthquake. Freud would have said that he is anticathexis because he gives off the sense that his ego is blocking the socially unacceptable needs of id. Mullin for example when he found out that his target moved he went after him and killed him as planned. Afterwards he couldn’t resist the urge to go back and kill the messenger who could have been a witness in the killing incident that happened before her and her family.
